About Good in Progress

AI coverage skews doom and hype. Good in Progress is the counter-narrative, and we earn it with evidence, not enthusiasm.

Our mission is to document and celebrate how people are using AI for good and how ordinary people are exercising agency to build the future they want to see. Every story is about a person who saw a problem, decided not to wait for permission or a perfect system, and used the tools available to them to do something about it.

The person is always the hero. AI is the tool.

The six lenses

Every story in the library is filed under one of six lenses, so you can find the angle that speaks to your world.

  • Ordinary People

Ordinary people and small organizations who saw a problem and built something themselves, with no permission required.

  • Social Impact

Social impact and nonprofit work: AI put to use for people who needed it most.

  • Breakthrough

Big research breakthroughs, told through the people behind them, not the paper.

  • Local Spotlight

Local spotlights from around the world: proof that this is happening everywhere, not just in Silicon Valley.

  • Adaptation

Adaptation and human ingenuity: how people are adjusting, retraining, and finding new footing.

  • Org Spotlight

Org Spotlights: organizations that used AI to raise their people up instead of replacing them.

Our verification promise

Every story we run is checked against primary sources, with direct quotes we can point to, not paraphrases we hope are true.

Each candidate story goes through a graded scoring rubric before it is banked, and we run a reputation check on the people and organizations involved. If a claim cannot be sourced, it does not run, no matter how good the story is.

That is the whole standard: sourced, quoted, and checked, every time. You can see the receipts yourself at the bottom of every story.
